I was comparing core 2 duo e7200 to my old sempron 3100+ and i was looking at this chart at toms hardware?

What advantages does a core 2 duo have over a sempron. I compared these two processors in terms of gaming, video encoding and the experince index cpu score in vista. Now my there wasn't really a huge performance difference between the 2 processors for example in the experince index for cpu score my sempron gets 4.1 and the core 2 duo gets 5.4 So there ins't a huge difference between the 2 like people hype up to. And looking at 1 chart in tom's hardware where a duo core was compared to a sempron at video encoding, the sempron does it in 620 seconds and the core 2 duo does it in 500 seconds so there ins't really a huge performance difference between the 2 then what are the advantages of a core 2 duo over a sempron.
