I would like a pet snake?

I live in the UK and i would love a pet snake (probably corn snake), however, i do not know how much they cost, how much they cost to maintain etc and also whether they bite or whether their bites hurt? I am only 15, how long is their life expectancy? Any info would be greatly appreciated :)
