Okay moms hat would you do in this situation? Gas leak!?

So my boyfriend and I are in the process of moving into ou apartment. We have OAU th deposit and rent for February and our landlord said we could move in whenever. So we go there today and we turn the heat on and smell strong gas. We call gas company they come and say there is a leak in the gas line and they red tagged the furnace saying carbon monoxide was leaking from it and a few other things are wrong. The filter for the furnace is just laying in top of it fo example. Well we called the landlord all day and never got am answer finally I looked up her house number, called and she answered and said she would have the maintamce guy come out and look at it tomorrow. Now, shouldn't she have a furnace contractor come and not just a maintance guy? I don't see how he could fix a gas line, figure out what's wrong with the furnace and fix it. Also, the gas company said whoever came to fix it was responsible for turning it back on and checking for leaks. We have a baby and I want to know it is for sure fixed before we move in, what should we do? How do I tell her there needs to be a professional fixing it not just some guy? What would you do?
