What are the main legislative basis for criminal law in australia?

The criminal codes contain all the criminal offenses and defenses in a relatively concise manner. Criminal law comes from the common law system (which is essentially the law as decided by judges and continued through the doctrine of precedents, were like cases are decided alike). Legislation and statues have also been developed that are incorporated in the criminal codes.
