Can you believe only 3% of engineers are women?
I was a computer programmer in the US, only 1/3 of programmers were women 30 years ago, and 1/3 of programmers are women today. In the 1970's and 1980's, ual harment was pretty popular among some of the older (and less competent) males. It got better, but I found the field too conservative and stifling, so I got into other careers related to it, that weren't quite so uptight and rigid. It's still not popular to be a geek, women think you have to be great at math and you just have to think linearly (logically) for many computer related jobs. As for engineers, I had to work around about 500 of them at one firm, and talk about a geeky, ist, socially inept group of men! Even the male programmers complained about how icky the engineers were-they were disgusting, according to our co-workers. Hopefully that has changed..but if not, it could explain a few things.
